American R&B star Usher claims that he is in the process of inventing a brand new genre of music. The singer has made the bold claim, suggesting that his next release will be a distinct brand of “revolutionary pop”, combining traits from several genres to create a new type of music.
Speaking to a British newspaper, Usher said: "I'm a consumer of culture and love mixing styles and inspirations, both in my music and my style. I'm working on a new genre of music - Revolutionary Pop - which combines several music genres to create a new sound experience."
Meanwhile, the singer (real name Usher Raymond IV) has pledged his continuing support to teen pop star Justin Bieber. In an interview on American network CNN, the singer said that he related to Bieber, having also entered the music industry at the age of 15. He said: "I saw him, I arranged a meeting with his manager who I had worked with in the past and said this kid has definitely got what it takes to be something incredible and I will really like to invest into his future. I feel like it is ideal to be part of it."
However, Usher wasn’t shying away from the idea of Bieber hitting stumbling blocks in the future. The ‘You Got It Bad’ star acknowledged that there would be inevitable pitfalls in the future, but once again promised that he would be there to support his young protégé: "The pitfalls of fame comes in time. It should be a long story which is what we hope for, we hope for longevity and it's definitely looking like a lot of fans will want to grow with him."
He continued: “I will be there, supportive of the growth; I will be there, supportive of the hard times; I will be there, supportive of the tumultuous situations and circumstances that he may experience in his life.”
