Glastonbury 2011 - Coldplay In, Rolling Stones Out

According to a report by The Sun, Coldplay are this year’s Saturday night headliners at Glastonbury Festival. This will be the third time that the band have headlined the Somerset event since 2002, following 2005’s appearance alongside the recently split White Stripes and dance duo Basement Jaxx.
The tabloid newspaper also reported that ageing rockers The Rolling Stones will not be playing despite efforts by the festival organisers to book them for the June event. The Sun article included a statement from a source, who said: “Getting the Stones to Glastonbury has been high on Michael Eavis's list of priorities for a long time. He came really, really close this time round. He came up with an incredibly tempting offer and Mick and the rest of the band were considering it closely but they ultimately decided to turn it down.”
No other headliners have yet been revealed, although rumours have included Prince and U2. The latter were forced to pull out of last year’s festival due to Bono’s back surgery. All three headliners and the rest of the Glastonbury line-up are expected to be officially announced ahead of the festival, which runs from 22nd to 26th June.
