Stevie Wonder Peforms for Obama at White House

The White House was greeted with a series of soul legends as Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson both performed in front of President Obama last Thursday.

The icons were playing as part of the Black History Month celebrations which also attracted such stars as Jamie Foxx, Seal, John Legend and Sheryl Crow – as well as a public speaking by Barack Obama himself.

“At concerts in the South, Motown groups literally brought people together, insisting that the ropes traditionally used to separate black and white audience members be taken down." said the American President, who also referred to Motown as the “sound track of the civil rights era”.

Stevie Wonder was on good form, performing classics “You Are the Sunshine in my Life” and “Dancing in the Street” at a show which also saw Smokey Robinson duet with pop singer Sheryl Crow for “You’ve Really Got a Hold of Me”.
