Rihanna Planning Duet With Katy Perry

V Festival headliner Rihanna has confirmed this week that a duet with ‘Teenage Dream’ singer Katy Perry is very much on the cards. During a recent interview, Rihanna confirmed that the two will enter the studio together as soon as timing allows it.

Speaking to a British newspaper, the singer said: “We want to hopefully make something. We are talking about it right now but it’s hard because we are both so busy. It will be something fun. Something out of the box.”

The ‘Umbrella’ star went on to discuss her earlier career, claiming that she “blended in”, lacking the control and creative imput that she currently has. Rihanna said: “I had a ridiculous schedule. It was kind of unfair. But I kept going. I was focusing on getting people to respect me as an artist, making my stamp in the industry. I wasn’t 100 per cent or even 75 per cent in control of my image or my sound. I said, ‘If you guys keep this perfect image of me, people will never notice me.’

“I kind of blended in. It was safe, the blonde, curly hair. It was a formula. I didn’t want to be like all the other artists. I wanted to stand out. And the only way I could do that was by taking charge of my image and sound. And it worked. ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ was a big turning point for me.”

She continued: “Nothing in life comes easy. Everything comes with a sacrifice. If this is what I love to do most then I have to put up with the s**t that I don’t love that comes with it. And I have to work.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna is set to make a headline appearance at this year’s V Festival. The singer will be performing alongside Eminem for the festival, which takes place from August 20th-21st this summer. She will perform at the Weston Park festival on the Saturday night and Hylands Park on the Sunday night.
