Scam Ticket Site Exploits Demand for V Festival Tickets

With unprecented demand for V Tickets this morning causing a surge in Internet traffic, many fans were left without tickets and looking for V 2011 tickets on the open secondary market. International fraudsters have quickly jumped on the opportunity to rip off UK music fans, exploiting unsuspecting UK consumers with offers too good to be true at fake ticketing websites.

An OFT report concluded last year that 1 in 12 music fans admit to having been ripped off by fake ticketing websites, losing on average of £80 each. Fake ticket sites are a growing problem which are a blight on the live music industry and those reputable companies that act appropriately within it.

ImageOne such site ripping off UK music fans is www.v-festival-2011.com, a site which appeared out of nowhere this morning to scam music fans looking for alternative sources for V Festival Tickets. The site looks professional and officially connected with the V Festival. Of course, it isn't. That is part of the scam to dupe fans.

The site expoits open advertising on Google, called Google Adwords, to attract potential victims, as can be seen in the screenshot here.

If you missed out on tickets for V Festival, we advise you to always double check the sites you are buying from. At Stereoboard we only work with official UK agencies and trusted fan-to-fan exchanges, safe in the knowledge that your purchases are fully safe and guaranteed.
