Two Door Cinema Club Announce Pyramid Stage Slot At Glastonbury

Fresh from selling out Brixton Academy in under four hours and winning Ireland’s prestigious Choice Music Prize, Two Door Cinema Club continue to go from strength to strength after being confirmed for a primetime slot on Glastonbury’s prestigious Pyramid Stage as their debut album 'Tourist History' achieves Gold status in the UK. It is the second biggest selling debut album of the last 12 months.

One of the most talked about bands of last year’s festival season, the trio look set to take this year’s summer stages by storm. The band will take to the Pyramid Stage on the Friday of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, an astonishing honour for such a new band.

The band are set to release their new single, a brand new mix of ‘Something Good Can Work’, on May 2nd. Crackling with Two Door Cinema Club’s uplifting charm, it shimmers with staccato rhythms, elegant riffs and an inspired, heartwarming chorus that somehow is as catchy as it is subtle. It showcases the band’s effervescent electro pop at its very best.

Following sold out headline tours in the UK, US, Europe, Australia, Japan and South America, the band will play their biggest UK shows yet this summer with dates at Bristol Academy on June 2nd and Brixton Academy on June 3rd. Incredibly, the band's Brixton Academy show sold out in less than four hours, making it the fastest sell out of the venue by a new band in years according to SJM Concerts.

Since releasing their debut album ‘Tourist History’ in March 2010, Two Door Cinema Club have become one of the biggest new success stories in UK music. Following two NME award nominations (Best New Band and Best Album), the trio recently picked up the Choice Music Prize, Ireland’s most prestigious music award which names the best album of the year. The band beat off stiff competition from the likes of Imelda May and Villagers to pick up the award and the €10,000 cheque, which Two Door Cinema Club have since donated in full to a local charity in their hometown of Bangor. The charity, called Abaana, raises money to help support under-privileged children in Africa.

The band are set to announce further festivals performances in the coming weeks, but here's their UK and Ireland live shows announced so far...
