Robbie Williams Set To Re-Launch Solo Career After Take That Tour

Robbie Williams is looking to re-launch his career as a solo artist after the upcoming Take That arena tour. The singer, who rejoined the boyband last year to record the hugely successful LP ‘Progress’, is said to be thinking about potential solo deals to enter after the tour is completed.

According to a report in the News Of The World today, Williams is in talks with a number of labels after deciding not to renew his previous contract with EMI. The singer famously signed to the label in an unprecedented £80 million deal in 2002.

A source (supposedly) close to the singer told the paper: “It's important for him to have his own solo deal because he is one of the most successful British recording artists.”

The news will come as little surprise to dedicated fans of the band, after Gary Barlow hinted that Williams was not a permanent fixture during an interview with BBC Radio in January. He said: “I think even moving forward, I know we’re back with Rob right now, but we still see our future as a four piece band. We see Take That as a four-piece band in general.”
