OMD, aka Orchestral Movements in the Dark, are a British new wave group, currently consisting of founding members vocalist and bass player, Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys on keyboards, as well as original drummer Malcolm Holmes and bassist Martin Cooper and Stuart Kershaw. The band are one of the most influential British bands of the 80s and have sold over 40 million records.
Formed in 1978, the group achieved the majority of their success in the 1980s, releasing seven albums, four of which charted in the Top 10. ‘Architecture & Morality’ was their highest charting album, reaching #3 in the UK Album Chart. After Humphreys, Holmes, and Cooper left the band for a numbers of years, the original line-up was reunited in 2006, and they put out a new record ‘History of Modern’ in 2010, and another, ‘English Electric’ in 2013. The band are set to release their latest album, ‘The Punishment of Luxury’, on September 1, 2017.

The band were great. OMD had the crowd buzzing. It brought back so many memories from the eighties and I would like to see them again. Hopefully they will be touring the UK next year again, if so can't wait. I also saw them at the rewind festival in Perth, where they were fantastic.

Having enjoyed a notable resurgence with 2010’s comeback album ‘History of Modern’, electronic pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark quickly followed it up with another worthy addition to their canon: 2013’s ‘English Electric’. This quick one-two defied expectations after some 14 years of radio silence.
