Midge Ure, real name James Ure, is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician from Cambuslang, Lanarkshire.
Starting his music career in 1972, playing with bands such as Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids, Visage and as the front man of Ultravox, best known for their #2 single Vienna. He was also the producer and co-writer for the massive charity single Do They Know It's Christmas?, and co-creator of Live Aid.
Ure put out his own debut LP, ‘The Gift’, in 1985, which reached #2 in the UK Albums Chart, which was followed by ‘Answers to Nothing’ in 1988 and ‘Pure’ in 1991. His last release was ‘Orchestrated’ in 2017.
Scottish music legend Midge Ure returns to the UK theatre circuit in early 2019 with a special concert experience called Songs, Questions and Answers. Each show will entail a Q&A and a musical element, accompanied by multi instrumentalists Cole Stacey and Joe O'Keefe. With a career having spanned over 40 years, there'll be so much to talk about! I saw Midge Ure in concert last night and it was absolutely fantastic, he performed songs from his back catalogue stretching back many years, the two young lads he has to accompany him are very talented musicians, well worth going to a concert if you have the chance you will not regret it.
