Arcade Fire “Considering” New Material For Hyde Park Show

Saturday, 19 March 2011 Written by James Conlon

Arcade Fire’s Will Butler has revealed that the band are considering debuting new material at their Hyde Park show on June 30th.

Speaking to NME at the SXSW festival, the synth and bass player stated that the band have begun work on new material, and will consider playing new songs at Hyde Park if the timing is right. He said: "For the last couple months we've been practising, playing around and doing demos. Nothing formal, but we have been having a kind of creative session."

Speaking about the huge London show, he continued: "It is a lot harder to play new stuff because the person at the back doesn't get gripped when they hear it. So if we're not at that space at the [Hyde Park] show then it won't go that way, but we are definitely considering it."

Despite the mention of new material, Butler was reluctant to set a time frame on the follow-up to the band’s 2010 release ‘The Suburbs’. He said: "We're not setting plans because it tends to stress us out a bit. But the only vague desire is to have the new album not come out three years from now - it would be nice to get out it a little snappier than that this time."
