My Chemical Romance Unveil Video For ‘Planetary (GO!)’ – Watch Now

Wednesday, 23 March 2011 Written by James Conlon

My Chemical Romance have unveiled the video for their latest single, ‘Planetary (GO!)’. The promo for the lively track was released yesterday by this year's Reading and Leeds Festival headliners and has already received over 130,000 views online.

The video was filmed at London’s Islington Academy on February 24th, when the band asked fans to dress theatrically and come to join them for a special recording session/gig. Tickets were made available the day before the shoot and the relatively small venue sold out in a matter of minutes.

Speaking to Kerrang! about the video shoot, My Chemical Romance said: “We've made videos for Na Na Na and SING and not picked up an instrument in either one, so this was all about performance. The song is about being in a club and dancing, so we thought, 'Let's show people what a My Chem show kinda looks like!'. The video shoot had a real party atmosphere and was a really fun way to end our UK tour."

Lead singer Gerard Way continued: "Their reaction to that song when we played it for the first time was absolutely massive. We didn't pick this single by using a poll or market research. It was down to them. We're in the trenches with [the fans] and you can really feel it when we're playing this song live."
