Russell Watson Begins UK Tour & Tickets

The voice of a generation is back, alive and most certainly kicking, currently out on a massive 23 date tour of the UK, having started with a hometown show on March 27th at the Salford Lowry. The tour includes a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 3rd which will be filmed for a brand new DVD out November 14th.

“I am thrilled to be back touring in the UK,” says Russell. “This is my 10th UK Tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans again, and revisiting some of my favourite venues in the UK.”

The tenor who practically invented the classical crossover genre stunned the world all over again with his most recent album ‘La Voce’, on Epic Records.

Recorded with the Roma Sinfonietta - Ennio Morricone’s orchestra of choice – and produced by Mike Hedges, Russell Watson’s voice has never sounded better.

Stronger, more driven and powerful, his renditions of Pino Donaggio’s Io Che Non Vivo (Senza Te), Mario Lanza’s Arrivederci Roma and Parla Piu Piano (the theme from The Godfather) are as impressive as you’d
expect from a man singing with, literally, a new lease of life after overcoming two life-threatening brain tumours.

In 2008, when the Salford born tenor finished radiotherapy for the pituitary tumour that saw him undergoing emergency surgery, he decided to embark on a return to music.

He soon found that his treatment had given him not just a fresh outlook on the world, but a whole new, deeper, richer voice. “The tumour could have been growing for 10-15 years in my nasal cavity, so when I had it cut out I went from a V8 to a V12!”

Released a decade after his No. 1, Classical Brit bagging 2000 debut ‘The Voice’, ‘La Voce’ is Watson’s ninth – and most personal – album.

“I’ve truly given my heart and soul to this record,” he says, and you can most certainly hear it.

Russell was one of the stars of last year’s Royal Variety Show and also had a whole episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories on ITV1 dedicated to him. He has won four Classical BRIT Awards and sold almost half a million albums last year and will be playing tracks new and old on this 23 date tour.
