Lil Wayne is set to face a tax bill of $5.6 million (£3,400,000) dating back to at least 2008, according to records which were made available to the public yesterday (April 5th). According to The Detroit News, The ‘Lollipop’ rapper has been charged with the bill from the US Inland Revenue Service, who have claimed that he still has $3,300,000 unpaid from 2008 and $2,250,000 from 2009.
The IRS are said to have imposed a security interest on his Miami mansion to secure the tax payment. Lil Wayne’s 15,101 square foot mansion is located on a private Miami island and is supposedly worth almost $13 million.
It is not the first time that Wayne has been caught up in difficulties with the Inland Revenue Service. In July 2010 the rapper was forced to pay a $1.1million tax charge after he completed his prison sentence for drug possession and gun crimes.
As previously reported by Stereoboard, Lil Wayne is also currently facing a lawsuit from US producer Dezzle (real name Darius Harrison), who claims that he is still owed significant royalty rights from the singer for profits from his 2008 hit ‘Lollipop’.
To make things worse, Lil Wayne was recently forced to cancel the entirety of his UK and Irish tour dates after reports of being refused an entrance visa by both governments. The rapper was denied entrance visas and work permits due to his previous US convictions, which saw the rapper incarcerated for the majority of 2010.
