Joe McElderry Forced To Support Jedward At Irish Festival

It’s said that money can’t buy you talent, but if Jedward’s recent career path is anything to go by, it’s clear that a lack of talent doesn’t necessarily stop you from getting paid. The Irish twins have picked up a number of lucrative sponsorship deals in the past few months (including becoming the new faces of Money Supermarket and Coco Pops) and even earned themselves a Eurovision entry in the process.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said of 2009 ‘X Factor’ winner Joe McElderry, who (despite placing six places above the twins) was forced to perform as a support slot for the Irish duo at an outdoor concert this weekend, if you believe the UK tabloid newspaper The Sun.

According to The Sun, label executives have restricted McElderry’s tour funding, leaving him with just a single driver while the Grimes twins have an extensive team of make-up artists and stylists to ensure that they achieve their wacky potential.

The Sun quotes a source close to the singer (his driver perhaps?) as saying: "It really has spiralled downhill for Joe. You could blame Simon or his mentor Cheryl Cole, but if the public who voted for you lose interest there's not much anyone can do."

McElderry released his debut album ‘Wide Awake’ in October 2010, gaining a Number Three place in the UK albums chart. He also recorded a track entitled ‘There’s A Place For Us’ for the third 'Narnia' film, which went on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for ‘Best Original Song in a Motion Picture’.
