Blink-182 React To Criticism Over Tour Postponement

Blink-182 have offered another statement to fans following a torrent of criticism over their decision to postpone scheduled arena dates and festival appearances for this summer. The band announced on Monday (April 18th) that they would be postponing all their planned European dates until summer 2012.

Speaking on their official Facebook page, singer Mark Hoppus said: “I have been reading all of your comments, both here and on my twitter, and to those of you who're frustrated, angry, let down, and incredulous, I feel you. I feel the same way. I've had a while to process everything and I'm still bummed. This was not an easy decision for us at all. One of the hardest things we've had to do. Ever. It sucks.”

The dates were postponed after the group declared that they hadn’t made enough progress with their upcoming studio album, which will be the first release from the pop-punk trio since their 2003 self-titled effort. The original statement from the band stated that they did not wish to embark on another ‘Greatest Hits’ tour, feeling that they owed their fans more than that.

The original statement read: “We hoped we would have some new songs to play rather than do another 'greatest hits tour' which you all saw last Summer. As much as we know our fans would be cool with that, we feel that we owe you guys something new when you spend your money to come see us.”

Despite the negative response from fans following the decision, Hoppus clearly hadn’t lost any enthusiasm over the band’s as-of-yet untitled sixth studio effort. He said: “This needs to be the best album we've ever recorded, and we're working hard towards that goal.”
