British singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding has been chosen to perform at the reception of the Royal Wedding, it has been revealed. The singer has been asked to perform as the entertainment at the official reception in the evening after the couple are married.
A source close to the singer told The Sun: "Wills and Kate are huge fans of Ellie and were keen to sign her up. Her music goes down well with the young ones, plus a few of the older guests will be nodding their heads along.”
They continued: "They really wanted a top British talent and the couple are delighted Ellie agreed to perform. She can't wait - although she's a tad nervous."
It has been suggested that Prince William has clashed with palace supervisors regarding the overly-official nature of the couple’s reception party, however having a contemporary artist such as Goulding performing would suggest that the Prince has definitely managed to claim some ground. According to reports, Goulding’s BBC Radio 1 boyfriend Greg James has also received an invite to the reception bash.
Ellie Goulding rose to public attention after an inclusion in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll, going on to earn a Critic’s Choice Award at the Brits (a similar path followed the year after by Jessie J). She has received critical acclaim since signing to Polydor in 2009, topping the UK album charts with her debut LP ‘Lights’.
