Canada's Best New Band - Said The Whale Announce UK Tour Dates

Canada's Best New Band for 2011, Said The Whale are crossing the pond next week for their debut UK tour.

The Vancouver based indie rock act released their debut album 'Taking Abalonia' in 2007, and was re-released with new songs a year later as 'Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia'. The follow-up 'Islands Disappeared' was released in 2009 to critical acclaim. For a limited time, Said The Whale are giving away 3 songs from their album 'Islands Disappear' and a video of 'Camilo (The Magician)' on their website: http://www.saidthewhale.com.

The band picked up the prestigious JUNO award for 'New Group of the Year' in their homeland earlier this year. For the band, it was an industry acknowledgement of their investment to making music, and the years spent touring in their home country.

Tyler Bancroft said: "It feels really surreal, The JUNO’s are something I always watched from afar growing up. To be a part of it now is crazy."

"Having the name of the band announced by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning was something truly special."

The band kick off their tour at the Relentless Garage in London on Tuesday May 10th, and will then perform two shows at The Great Escape festival in Brighton before returning to London, before heading off to Liverpool Sound City. Quite a showcase for a talented new band.

You can catch Said The Whale on the following UK dates:

May 10 - London | The Relentless Garage
May 11 - London | The Slaughtered Lamb
May 13 - Brighton | Coalition (The Great Escape Festival)
May 14 - Brighton | Komedia (The Great Escape Festival)
May 15 - London | The Windmill, Brixton
May 16 - London | The Bull and Gate
May 18 - Edinburgh | Maggies Chamber
May 19 - Liverpool | Shipping Forecast (Liverpool Sound City)
May 20 - Liverpool | Masque Ink (Liverpool Sound City)

Don't miss this great new band on UK shores.
