Two Door Cinema Club have claimed that they are toying with a bigger sound for the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut album. The Northern Irish band played a set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on Sunday (May 15th), earning massive cheers as they brought out recognisable tracks in their eight-song set.
Speaking to Digital Spy before the show, guitarist Sam Halliday declared that the band are looking to write big pop tunes for their second LP.
He said: "It's going [to sound] bigger. The first album's great in the sense that it's small pop songs that are fun and we don't want to move away from that, but at the same time you've got to progress.
Halliday continued: "We want bigger riffs, more anthemic songs and bigger melodies. We just want to experiment. I feel a lot of our songs on the first album are similar in structure...So we just want to experiment and find new stuff."
Clearly full of ambition, bassist Kevin Baird added: "You know - If you want to play stadiums then you've got to write stadium songs."
