You Me At Six Sounding More Like Coldplay On New Album

English rock band You Me at Six have claimed that some of the material from their new third album is on the same level as that of Coldplay.

The usual rock-y pop-punk five piece have strayed away from their roots for some of the album’s tracks, while getting even more aggressive for the others, according singer and frontman Josh Franceschi.

Speaking with music website NME, the singer said: "With this one we wanted to show that we've got a really wide spectrum of sound.

“There are songs on the album that could be on a Coldplay record and yet there are songs that could be made by a far heavier band.”

He even went as far as to say “I really think that if there's going to be a You Me At Six album that takes us out of the scene we're in, then this is it.”

As with a new genre, the band have begun using different instruments and sounds in the production of their music, and Franceschi seemed pleased with the band’s endeavours to try new things.

"It was good to be taken out of our comfort zone and made to try new things.

"Before we knew it we were really thinking big and writing parts for strings and horns and working with conductors.”

With a release of the new album expected in autumn this year, the band will spend the summer playing festival slots at the V festival, and at Sonisphere, where metal’s Big Four will be making history.
