The Horrors have unveiled ‘Still Life’, the lead single to be taken from their third studio album, ‘Skying’. The track received its world premiere last night (May 24th) and has received mostly positive reviews from fans on YouTube and social networking sites over the past twelve hours.
‘Still Life’ is the first taste of The Horror’s new direction, and if the track is anything to go by their third LP is looking to be something special. ‘Still Life’ sounds like the musical love-child of Richard Ashcroft and Bonnie Raitt: opening with a foundation layer of reversed guitar loops, the track builds by way of trumpets and a restrained bassline to form the anthem that the late 80s never quite had.
‘Skying’ is scheduled for release on July 11th. The follow-up to ‘Primary Colours’ was recorded in the band’s own Dalston studio, with Grammy-winning engineer Craig Silvey taking helm of the final mix.
You can listen to ‘Still Life’ below:
The Horrors will also be previewing songs from their new album during a short UK jaunt in June, where they will perform tour dates including London and Manchester. The band are also set to make several festival appearances this summer.
The tracklisting for 'Skying' is:
'Changing the Rain'
'You Said'
'I Can See Through You'
'Endless Blue'
'Dive In'
'Still Life'
'Wild Eyed'
'Moving Further Away'
'Monica Gems'
'Oceans Burning'
