The Vaccines have claimed that their debut album is a “better record” that Beady Eye’s ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’. The remarks were made after the former Oasis man slating the band as “boring”.
However, it would appear that The Vaccines frontman Justin Young isn’t scared of a back-and-forth with the most vocal man in modern rock music: the singer claimed that “words are his weapon”, insinuating that Gallagher’s music fails to speak for itself.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Justin Young responded when asked about Gallagher’s remarks. He said: "Well, that's what he trades off, isn't it? Words are his weapon, not mine. I think I've made a better record than he has."
Young also dismissed critics who have slated the band for using “tried and tested” lyrical themes, claiming that the sentiment behind the LP was entirely genuine. He said: "Writing this album I was just coming out of a serious relationship so naturally it provided a lot of the lyrical content. I think people could be dismissive of our lyrics because they are tried and tested subjects: anger, jealousy, lost love, being young. But there's a reason they're tried and tested."
The band also unveiled the video for their latest single ‘All In White’ last week. You can view the daring promo below (warning: NSFW):
