Jack White Denies Involvement With The Kinks Film

Jack White has denied claims that he will be contributing to the soundtrack for the upcoming film adaptation of The Kinks 1976 LP ‘Schoolboys In Disgrace’. Rumours about White’s involvement began when Ray Davies made the claim himself in a recent interview with the BBC, however it would now appear that any speculation was unfounded.

Davies, who is acting as executive producer on the film, claimed that he was “talking” to White about scoring his own version of the classic Kinks tracks for the movie. He told BBC News: "[White] is a great technical player and would bring some great anarchy to it, which is in keeping with the script."

However, White has put an end to any claims by offering an official statement on his involvement in the film today. A spokesperson for the ex-White Stripes frontman said: "Rumours of Jack White's participation in the film version of the Kinks' 'Schoolboys in Disgrace' are untrue. Jack White has great respect for the Kinks and the film's director, Bobcat Goldthwait, but has no plans to record any music for the film as erroneously reported."

‘Schoolboys In Disgrace’ has been discussed as a project since mid-2010, however no concrete plans have been offered as of yet regarding an official release date.

Despite refusing involvement in the film, it would not have been the first time that White has worked on a movie soundtrack: the singer contributed a duet with Alicia Keys to the James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ as well as penning five tracks for the Oscar-nominated ‘Cold Mountain’, which he also appeared in as an actor.
