Other Lives Unveil Stunning Video For New Single 'For 12' - Watch Now

Other Lives this morning unveil the stunning video for 'For 12', the first single from their forthcoming second album 'Tamer Animals' and their first set of UK tour dates in late summer including a headline show at London's Lexington. 

Other Lives will play five UK shows/ festivals during August/ September. The full list of dates is below: 

August 2011

Aug 12th - Summer Sundae Festival, Leicester
Aug 17th - Deaf Institute, Manchester
Aug 18th - Lexington, London
Aug 19th - Green Man Festival, Brecon Beacons
 
September 2011

Sept 3rd – End of the Road Festival, Larmer Tree Gardens

Nick Davidge, the director of 'For 12's stunning video, had the following to say about the video's creation: 

"The first time I heard 'For 12' it really took my breath away, it was just such a beautifully haunting melody. It instantly started me thinking about these vast lonely landscapes and led to this idea of trying to visualize the most isolated human experiences, finding a situation that really captured the feeling of being utterly separated from humanity.  

"I think I'd seen some of the latest NASA photos that were coming back from Mars and there's something amazingly familiar about them but at the same time so alien. There is no life, just these expansive empty vistas of red rocks and sand.  It felt so close yet in reality, so far away. It seemed like the perfect emotional backdrop for this song."  

"Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey' was another big inspiration for the video. When I sat down with the band we started talking about the look and feel of the piece they instantly gravitated toward that cold, clean very modern tone of the film. There is something about that particular vision of the future with its solid state buttons and control panels that all of us really loved. It's got a kind of realness to it that we wanted to capture. Then it was down to our crew to actually build it and make all the hundreds of lights flash and beep. It was pretty amazing once we'd finished."
