Guillemots Set To Launch ‘Station Sessions’ With Free London Concert Tomorrow

Tuesday, 14 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Guillemots are confirmed to be performing on the first day of a six-week music festival taking place at London St. Pancras International railway station. The ‘Walk The River’ four-piece will play a free set for commuters tomorrow (June 15th) as part of an innovative arts movement which will see acts performing at the station every day until late July.

The Birmingham band are set to perform tomorrow at 6.30pm. The 'Station Sessions' will see 100 bands and solo performers play in three locations at the large London train station. Performances are scheduled every weekday from 6-7pm on the ‘main stage’, every Tuesday from 12.30-1.30pm at the ‘Sourced Market fringe stage’, every Monday evening from 7.30-8.30pm at the ‘Searcy's fringe stage’ and Thursday evenings at the ‘Betjeman Arms fringe stage’.

Speaking about the event, which takes place to raise funds for The Prince’s Trust, spokesman Julian Barrell said: "Funds raised at this incredibly exciting event will help The Prince’s Trust to change young lives here in the UK. With youth unemployment high and the jobs market uncertain, there has never been a better time to help us get disadvantaged young people into work, education or training."

Although the final line-up is still being confirmed, organisers have suggested that with almost a million people travelling through the station every working week, the festival has the potential to reach a bigger (passing) audience than Glastonbury, V Festival, Reading and Leeds and The Isle OF Wight festivals combined.
