Radiohead Confirmed For Surprise Glastonbury Performance Today

It has just been confirmed that Radiohead are heading to Glastonbury for a surprise appearance on the Park Stage today (June 24th). Despite not being known as the world’s most reliable source, fans were left hopeful after The Sun claimed today that the ‘Kid A’ band will be making their second surprise appearance in a row at the Worthy Farm festival. However the band have now confirmed the rumours to music magazine NME.

Last summer Jonny Greenwood and frontman Thom Yorke made a surprise acoustic performance on the Park Stage, packing out the field in a very short space of time. However, the British tabloid today started rumours that the band will be returning for their second jaunt in as many years at the Somerset festival, in all likelihood performing tracks from their latest LP ‘The King Of Limbs’.

The Special Guest slot starts at 8pm tonight (June 24), with organisers initially reluctant to confirm who the scheduled act are.

Speaking to NME about the festival earlier this week, Emily Eavis expressed her love for media speculation surrounding the surprise acts. She said: “We are still unsure of exactly who is turning up, mainly because it's unconfirmed at the moment! I swear I have heard every rumour – even that Led Zeppelin are playing!”

The confirmed reports mean that it will be Radiohead’s fifth appearance at the iconic Worthy Farm festival, since making their understated debut at the event in 1994.
