Metallica To Play Corporate Gig

Metal legends Metallica have confirmed they are to play at a corporate event in San Francisco this summer. Salesforce.com will host their ninth annual Dreamforce convention and the Californian rockers will headline the event, hosted at the Moscone Center on 31st August. They will follow in the footsteps of other rock heavyweights Foo Fighters and Neil Young who have previously performed at the show.

The band took to their website to explain the reasons behind choosing to play the show;

"It all started when Kirk mentioned that his next door neighbour had invited us to play at his party in San Francisco and we figured "why not?" After all, it has been quite some time since we've played in our hometown and we haven't exactly been getting out a lot lately. Well, it turns out that Kirk's neighbour, Marc Benioff, is the top dog at a "small" company called Salesforce.com and his shindig actually lasts for four days and hosts over 30,000 people!  So much for a little backyard barbeque..."

Last week Metallica announced they had recorded an entire album with Lou Reed and are also due back in the studio soon with Rick Rubin to begin work on what will become their tenth studio album, their first since 2008’s ‘Death Magnetic’.

Recently Metallica have played a series of shows alongside Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer, collectively known as ‘The Big 4’ of heavy metal. The Big 4 will perform together in the UK for the first time on Friday 8th July at this years’ Sonisphere festival at Knebworth house.
