4 Non Blondes have announced their return to the UK for the first time in over 30 years.
The band, who reunited for US shows and festival dates last year, will headline London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on June 24, with tickets going on general sale at 10am on March 27.
Led by Grammy-nominated frontwoman Linda Perry, 4 Non Blondes released their debut album 'Bigger, Better, Faster, More!' in 1992, which spawned the anthem What's Up?. They disbanded two years later, after which Perry concentrated on producing and songwriting. Commenting on the reunion, she said:
"I put my feelers out into the universe. Playing some songs with 4 Non Blondes just seemed like a fun thing to do, in a way it hadn’t before now. I’ve been behind the scenes for far too long. I want to step out to be the artist I am. I’m just open to all the possibilities that I’ve created around me. I manifest things all the time.”
The band are set to release a second studio album later this year, which grew out of a rehearsal Perry set up in San Francisco. She deemed the session "awkward at first," but after getting together and playing, it proved promising enough for her to write, "a bunch of new songs, revisit some old ones, and bam, we have an album. It’s really that simple. They’re all phenomenal players and now they get a chance to show that. I couldn’t ask for a better band to play these songs."
4 Non Blondes will also play Rock In Rio Lisboa later in June and Bourbon and Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky, in September.
Linda Perry, meanwhile, will release 'Let It Die Here', her first solo album in over 25 years, on May 8, alongside a documentary of the same name. She'll celebrate with a live performance and signing at London's Rough Trade East on June 22. Head here for more details on that.
