Plan B has discussed his upcoming hip-hop LP ‘The Ballad Of Belmarsh’, revealing that British actor Ray Winstone has contributed his acting talents to one of the tracks, which is largely spoken word.
Speaking to the BBC after his well-recieved Glastonbury set, the ‘Prayin’’ singer discussed the album, saying: “I wrote this album the way I write hip-hop, which is trying to convey the story that I need to get out rather than making songs that the radio will play. ‘The Ballad Of Belmarsh’ is definitely coming out.”
He continued: “I’ve got a good surprise for it - I just recorded Ray Winstone in the studio. I wrote a John Cooper Clarke-esque spoken word rap. At the moment it’s called “Officer Men”, but that’s a working title, and I got Ray to come in and spit it – it sounds amazing, it’s like the 2011 ‘Parklife’.
“It’s weird though – I was in the studio with him and thought ‘this is the proudest moment of my musical life’, and I’ve had some great moments. It was so strange to have him there, because I never thought he’d say yes, and he did, so you should look forward to that.”
Meanwhile, Plan B has also recently admitted that he’d rather go out with women who are only after his money, as "they're a lot easier not to phone back."
Speaking to the Guardian before his Glastonbury appearance, the rapper (real name Ben Drew) said: "A hot girl calls you up that you've been wanting to get with for ages and I'm like: 'I can't – I've got to sit in tonight and write a bloody song!'"
He continued: "I don't wanna find the right woman yet, because I'll probably fuck it up. So I'd rather go with girls that only want me for my money or some ulterior motive, because they're a lot easier not to phone back."
