Icelandic legend Bjork has been announced as the final headline act for this year's Bestival, which will see the singer-songwriter close the three-day affair.
Bjork is performing shows across the country as part of her 'Biophilia' project, which sees the popstar combine new tracks with specialised live performances, after kicking off the tour at the Manchester International Festival last night. And now Bjork will be playing her only summer festival set at the Isle of Wight's Bestival.
In what is a great capture for Bestival organiser DJ Rob da Bank, Bjork will join Austrailian drum and bass producers Pendulum and rockers The Cure as headliners for the three-day event. Rob da Bank was especially happy with the addtion to the line-up.
"I honestly can’t believe Björk is coming to Bestival. Without a doubt one of the most iconic musicians of the last century, Björk is always one step ahead of the pack with her music and innovations.
"The new Biophilia show is jam-packed full of technology, great interpretations of her amazing catalogue of songs and some brand new corkers. The grand finale to Bestival 2011 just got better!"
Bestival will be Bjork's only festival appearance this summer, and also her first festival performance for four years, so fans may not know what to expect from the eccentric star. But organisers have, at least, confirmed that she will be performing classic material as well as songs from her forthcoming album.
