Manowar Announce 2011 UK 'Battle Hymns Tour' & Tickets

Heavy metal gods Manowar are returning to the UK this Autumn for a full-scale UK tour!

The ‘Brothers of Metal’, who currently hold the world record for the loudest live performance and the longest heavy metal concert (5 hours and 1 minute in Bulgaria), have announced a string of live dates for November. Confirming shows in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the new run of dates have been titled 'The Battle Hymns Tour 2011' and will be the band's first UK trek in 16 years.

Bassist and songwriter Joey DeMaio revealed the news to fans earlier this week, however no dates were confirmed. DeMaio also explained that the band would be playing their iconic first album ‘Battle Hymns’ in its entirety, which they re-mastered and re-released in November last year, as well as “classic metal hymns that you’ve come to know.

The New York-based band are one of the original power metal bands, starting their career back in 1980. Their lyrics are often based on Nordic mythology and fantasies involving sword fighting and wizardry, and can best be described as a loud and epic metal band. These qualities have earned the four-piece a cult following in their native US as well as in Europe and Japan. With eleven studio albums, two world records and four half-dressed Viking lookalikes, you can’t really get much more metal than Manowar.
