Manowar are a heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the band are best known for their fantasy and mythological lyricism, as well as their loud and bombastic sound.
Manowar released their first album 'Battle Hymns' back in 1982, and only moved forward: with 'Into Glory Ride' dropping in 1983, 'Hail To England' and 'Sign Of The Hammer' in 1984, as well as nine more albums over the next three decades. Their latest album was 'Kings Of Metal MMXIV' in 2014, and they announced a retirement to touring in 2016 after a final world tour. In 2018, guitarist Karl Logan was arrested, and would not perform with the band again.
Accolade-wise, In 1984 the band was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record which they have since broken on 2 occasions! They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metal concert after playing for 5 hours and 1 minute in Bulgaria in 2008!
