Warrant Vocalist Jani Lane Found Dead In Hotel

Former Warrant vocalist Jani Lane (pictured center) has been found dead in an LA hotel.

Lane was found last night, August 11th, at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Woodland Hills, California. The cause of the 47-year-old's death has not yet been revealed.

Jani Lane had experienced a troubled past having departed and rejoined the band Warrant numerous times. The singer, who was responsible for writing three Top 40 hit singles 'Heaven,' 'Down Boys' and 'Sometimes She Cries', was admitted to a rehab centre shortly after leaving Warrant for the second time in 2004. Having battled alcohol and drug-related exhaustion, Lane rejoined Warrant again in 2008 but departed again later that year.

Appearing to have beaten his addictions, 2009 saw Jani Lane speak about his battle on American TV. “It’s just a matter of deciding you’re done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, ‘You know what? I’m done with this. I don’t like feeling like this, I don’t like living like this.’ And it’s also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you’re unconscious.”

Having said all this though, 2010 saw Lane plead no contest to DUI and was ordered to serve 120 days in jail. Lane also lost his license for three years and had to complete a 30-month alcohol-education program.

Since the news broke of his death, tributes for Jani Lane have been pouring in across the internet. Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx posted earlier, “I just heard the sad news about Janie Lane. So hard to swallow when people have kids. RIP.” Poison's Bret Michaels said. “We’d like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jani Lane regarding their loss. Respectfully, Bret and all at MEGI.”
