tUnE-yArDs, the project led by California-based lo-fi artist Merrill Garbus, have been confirmed as main support to Beirut at the folk band’s Brixton O2 Academy show in London on Friday 16th September – see below for tickets. Also next month, tUnE-yArDs will release new single ‘Gangsta’, the latest to be taken from their recently-released second album ‘w h o k i l l’.
The 12” version of the single will feature remixes by former Jurassic 5 DJ Cut Chemist and Beastie Boy AdRock, which you can listen to below. tUnE-yArDs recently made their US TV debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where they performed ‘Gangsta’ with live hip-hop group The Roots – watch the video below.
‘w h o k i l l’ recently became tUnE-yArDs’ first album to chart in the UK following its release in April, when it received a number of very positive reviews. In addition to next month’s support slot with Beirut, the group will also be performing at Dorset’s End of the Road festival on Friday 2nd September. On Thursday 15th September, they will be playing a special show in London – details to be confirmed.
