Remember Razorlight? Its been a while since we've seen anything new from Johnny Borrell and co, however, with their comeback firmly underway, and complete with a new line-up, Razorlight appeared at London's Notting Hill Carnival over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Entertaining the Bank Holiday crowds at London's Talbot Road, Razorlight took to the event's Gaz's Rockin' Blues Stage on August 29th and played out a set of reggae covers.
Following the flop of 2008 album 'Slipway Fires' its been a rough few years for Razorlight. Apart from founding member Borrell, the line-up of the band has completely changed since Andy Burrow’s exit in 2009 and following the departure of bandmates Carl Dalemo and Björn Agren, guitarist and vocalist Borrell admitted that he came close to changing the band’s name.
“I thought about changing our name from Razorlight. But we had two records that were slam-dunks, before the third one missed the target. I couldn't stand the thought of that miss being Razorlight's legacy.
Right now I don't mind if our return doesn't succeed because we're going to make an amazing album and have the best time making it.”
Now complete with a new drummer, bassist and lead guitarist in the form of David Kaplan, Freddie Stitz and Gus Robertson respectively, Razorlight have returned to the live stage having performed at Clapham Common's Get Loaded In The Park 2011 in June followed be a headline set at Guilfest in July. Razorlight are also set to headline Shakedown in Brighton (Stanmer Park) on Saturday 17th September.
