Radiohead’s last release saw the band’s eighth studio album hit shelves to critical acclaim, but without any kind of real tour and only a handful of live appearances. But, with new music apparently on the way, bassist Ed O’Brien has told BBC 6Music that 2012 will see Radiohead on the road a lot more.
O’Brien also told 6Music that any up and coming 2012 tours will be different from the usual Radiohead experience – saying “It has to be a set in itself, last time we went out it was like In Rainbows and a greatest hits, but it's not going to be like that this time.”
He went on to talk about what a next-year tour would sound like for fans, revealing: “I guess it’s going to be predominantly this record and the last one, and then we’ll see which songs fit around that.”. He then told report Sarah Griffiths that they were finalising dates for the tour right now, and that it would “run from about February to the end of November – but no solidly.”
He continued: “We’ll be in the UK, we’ll be in the US, all the usual ports of calls. Some of the shows will be outside but the ones in Europe are gonna be inside. Outdoor gigs can be great but the sound can get diluted and you miss the bass. There’s a power when it’s all going off indoors.”
