Culture Club Reuniting For Shows & Working On New Material Says Boy George

English new-wave band Culture Club have announced their return to the music scene with a reunion gig in Australia this New Year’s Eve.

The band, fronted by the eccentric Boy George, haven’t performed together for over ten years, but after getting the urge to make new music – they are currently working on new material – they decided it was time for Boy George to team back up with Roy, Mikey and Jon and give fans what they’ve long been waiting for.

“Last time we got together was ten years ago,” Boy George explained, “so it takes that long to recover from the last time we worked with each other.

“That's the thing that makes us want to come back and do it, is to write new songs and put some new material out as well as play the old ones.

“The nostalgia thing is OK but it's a bit limited, so for us to come and do this and enjoy it, we need to kind of do something new and incorporate the two things: the past and now.”

The comeback gig will be held in Sydney’s Gebe Island on December 31st. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, and no official details of a tour or album have surfaced, but Stereoboard will be the first to let you know they do.
