Stereophonics Planning A Film Release For Next Album?

Welsh rockers the Stereophonics have revealed that they may be releasing their next studio album alongside a feature film, in an idea akin to that of The Who’s Quadrophenia.

In an interview with XFM yesterday, frontman Kelly Jones began spilling the beans on what would be the band’s eighth studio album, telling host Gordon Smart that there could be a film in the cards as well as an LP full of new material.

“What we're trying to with this album is combine it with a film,” Kelly revealed. “It's a really ambitious project, we haven't done it before. We've always loved stuff like Quadrophenia and all the stuff like that so we're trying to do something that's a bit outside of the box really, rather than just a single on the radio and going on with all the same stuff. It's our eighth album so we're trying to do something a bit bigger”

The band have already began work on the musical side of things, announcing that they were in the studio way back in March earlier this year. While the songs may be on the way, it’s unknown whether they’ve actually started any work on the video element of the project. Is it time they changed their names to the Telephonics?
