Spotify To Announce New Direction For Music Streaming Service

Music streaming service Spotify will apparently be unveiling its new plans on November 30th as it aims to become more than just a free music streaming program.

As users, businesses and fans have all been asking ‘what’s next for Spotify?’ – and on a week Wednesday in New York, where the company will be holding their first ever press conference, they will be getting their answers – and the group is expected to announce something big.

“At Spotify, we continually strive to innovate and deliver exciting new experiences for our users,” a Spotify spokesperson revealed. In New York on November 30th, we are holding our first press conference to unveil the latest major development from Spotify - and a new direction for the company. The press event will be hosted by CEO and Founder Daniel Ek, along with special guests.”

The new move is at just the right time for the company; they’ve come under a lot of fire in recent times after artists began removing songs, albums and entire catalogues because of the lack of royalties that Spotify pays. One artists in particular, songwriter Jon Hopkins, wrote online: “Got paid £8 for 90,000 plays. Fuck spotify... Radio 1 pay about £50 for each play.”
