Leonard Cohen Announces New Album 'Old Ideas'

Leonard Cohen's new album 'Old Ideas' will be released by Columbia Records on January 30th 2012.

The album's ten songs address some of the most profound quandaries of human existence - the relationship to a transcendent being, love, sexuality, loss and death. Arguably the most overtly spiritual of Cohen's albums, 'Old Ideas' inspires commitment to a greater sense of compassion and decency. The album is available for preorder now at www.leonardcohen.com where his song, 'Show Me The Place' is also streaming.

Recording of 'Old Ideas' began in January 2011, however, many of the new songs were penned years ago. Early versions of two album tracks, 'Amen' and 'Lullaby' were originally recorded in 2007, while early versions of 'Lullaby' and 'The Darkness' were performed live during Cohen's recent, sold-out world tour.

'Old Ideas' track-listing is as follows:

Going Home
Amen
Show Me The Place
The Darkness
Anyhow
Crazy To Love You
Come Healing
Banjo
Lullaby
Different Sides

'Old Ideas' will be Hall of Famer Cohen's twelfth studio album with Columbia Records since 1967. With a career spanning six decades, Cohen's music has impacted on countless contemporary recording artists and writers. He has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Leonard Cohen could be heading out on tour in the new year to promote the new album. Check back to Stereoboard for news on a tour as and when it is confirmed.
