Birmingham-based dub/indie quintet Troumaca have released a new music video for their song ‘Sanctify’, which is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP ‘The Gems’. The EP is due for release on 12th December – watch the video for ‘Sanctify’ below.
Troumaca are named after a town in the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent, which is where band member Geoff Foulkes’s family are originally from. The new video to ‘Sanctify’ includes footage taken by Geoff’s family in Saint Vincent.
Speaking about the video, Troumaca said: “We wanted to show original footage of Troumaca and portray birth, youth, adolescence, adulthood and the aged to convey the circle of life which comes through in the track. The video ends with the head of the family, Gracie Sam, who was a key figure in the Troumaca village, and Geoff’s Nan. Before she died, she told Geoff many stories of Troumaca village, which in turn spurned ideas and conversation amongst us to create the birth and concept of Troumaca, the band.”
Troumaca have a number of live dates planned in December, including a show at Nottingham’s Stealth and Rescue Rooms. See below for details and tickets.
