Rick Rubin A "Thin, Thin, Thin Shadow" Of His Former Self, Says Corey Taylor

Highly-regarded metal and rock producer Rick Rubin has come under verbal attack by Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, who described Rubin as a ‘shadow of his former self’.

ImageRubin is one of the highest-paid and critically acclaimed producers in the genre, and is known to most as the best at his job. He constantly picks up contracts from bands like Black Sabbath (he’s producing their new comeback album), Slayer and AC/DC to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith and Rage Against the Machine. But it appears one band are unhappy at the heavy-bearded man – and their frontman is more than happy to voice his concerns.

“There are some people who would love for me to toe the party line, which is basically, 'Working with Rick Rubin was a very enriching experience’. Let me give you the fucking truth of it: Rick Rubin showed up for 45 minutes a week.

“Rick Rubin would then, during that 45 minutes, lay on a couch and have a mic brought in next to [his] face so he wouldn't have to move. The Rick Rubin of today is a thin, thin, thin shadow of the Rick Rubin that he was. He is overrated, he is overpaid, and I will never work with him again as long as I fucking live.”

Slipknot worked with Rubin back in 2004 when they released one of their most successful albums, ‘Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses’, but told of his low opinion of Rubin at a Q+A session in Texas last week.
