Gene Simmons and his iconic band of rockers KISS have come under all sorts of controversies and troubles in their past, and their fans have got into a spot of bother here and there too. But it’s unlikely an episode like this will be repeated any time soon – as one KISS fan has been found to be causing telephone company Verizon a few problems with a high-tech tribute to the band.
Stacie McIntosh owns a salon in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has made a pretty damn well-made shrine to the face-painted metalheads, which is covered in pictures, posters and stickers of the group – as well as being fitted with a music player. But it’s not the looks or sounds of the tribute that’s causing Verizon grief – it’s the fact that for some reason, the device seems to be interfering with the company’s signal!
The phenomenon is currently unexplained – Verizon chiefs are baffled as to why the thing is messing with their network. While the company have said the problems are only local and aren’t a major threat to them whatsoever, they did ask Stacie to remove the shrine, or at least turn it off. But, just like you’d imagine Simmons would, she said no.
“What can they do to me? This is my salon, I pay the bills,” Stacie said. “What can they do to me?” A fair answer from the Salon-owner, who is very proud of the machine. The builder of the tribute is completely unsure why it would interfere with communications too, saying they used ‘common materials’ to create it. Check the video out below.
