Mike Marlin Releases Video to New Single ‘This Town’ – Watch Now

Tuesday, 03 January 2012 Written by Rob Sleigh

British solo artist Mike Marlin has released a new video for his single ‘This Town’, which is taken from the forthcoming album ‘Man on the Ground’. ‘This Town’ is due for release on 23rd January and will be followed by the album on 13th February. Marlin has also announced a number or live dates for 2012 including an album launch show at London’s Concrete venue – see below for all confirmed dates.

‘Man on the Ground’ is the follow-up to Marlin’s debut album ‘Nearly Man’, which was released last year and featured the single ‘Play That Game’. The singer-songwriter has since pledged to release an album a year and is currently working on songs in between gigs in order to achieve his promise. New single ‘This Town’ is the latest to be taken from ‘Man on the Ground’ following October’s ‘The Magician’.

Mike Marlin was born in Wimbledon in the ‘60s and has spent the last 25 years writing songs and making music. Unlike last year’s ‘Nearly Man’, which Marlin has been working towards for over two decades, his new album ‘Man on the Ground’ was completed in under a year. The album is produced by Catherine Marks, who has previously worked with the likes of The Vaccines, Foals, Interpol and PJ Harvey.

Following the release of ‘Nearly Man’ in 2011, Mike Marlin performed at HMV’s Next Big Thing festival and went on tour with The Stranglers and Big Country.

Marlin recently launched a competition inviting aspiring filmmakers to come up with a video to accompany one of his new songs. The winner is due to be announced at next month’s album launch show for ‘Man on the Ground’.
