Fans of late singing superstar Whitney Houston have blasted her family claiming the decision to broadcast the star’s funeral via television and internet stream, which we reported yesterday, is ‘vile’.
The funeral is set to take place on tomorrow (Feb 18th) in the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark – where Houston sang as a child. And, after the Associated Press managed to set up a deal with Houston’s publicist Kristen Foster, the event will be available to watch online and on television. But, instead of taking to the idea, fans have instead shown their disgust at it –and have taken to Twitter to make their feelings known.
One user, known as Amber, wrote: “What is wrong with people? Why are they gonna broadcast Whitney Houston's funeral on CNN? That should be private,” while another agreed, and said: “Who the hell would want to watch Whitney Houston’s funeral live on the internet? Vile and disgusting.”
It’s not just the public who’ve tweeted about their distaste for the decision, with New York Giants wide-receiver Hakeem Nicks writing: “This is a grieving time not a show.”
But, some fans are happy that they’ll be able to watch the star’s send-off from their own homes – Jenelle Soller wrote: “Whitney Houston's funeral will be broadcast live this saturday, you bet your ass I'm waking up to pay my respects via tv or web.”
What do you think of the decision to stream the service? Disrespectful, or thoughtful of fans who’d want to watch? Let us know in the comments section below.
