Mumford & Sons In "Final Stages" Of Completing Second Album

Mumford & Sons have revealed they are in the “final stages” of completing the follow-up to their 2010 debut album 'Sigh No More'.

One of the most popular albums of the year of its release, in both the UK and the US, 'Sigh No More' is going to take some beating. However, at last Sunday's 54th Grammy Awards, Mumford & Sons commented on the phenomenal success of 'Sign No More' and revealed to www.mtv.com that they are drawing on the momentum and success of their debut to complete their second offering.

"It's pretty strange. It's ('Sigh No More') completely exceeded our expectations. Actually, we were talking to our manager about it last night ... we had a dream to do a couple of tours off the back of 'Sigh No More' in the U.K., then get back in and do a second record, and that was it. It's been crazy. Some of the songs on the album are four, five years old? We recorded it almost three years ago. And what's exciting is that we're right in the midst of recording the new album, so we feel very keen to plow on."

The new album isn’t quite complete yet, however, Mumford & Sons are near completing the project that began in 2011. Ben Lovett told www.mtv.com: "We are in the final stages, we're not finished, we don't quite know the exact track listing. But we have kind of road-tested some songs, and we have picked up some new songs and dropped some ones that people might have thought we were going to be putting on the record. We just want to make a record that's cohesive and one that we feel represents us best right now."

Eager to please fans with their all important second album, Mumford & Sons are not rushing the release of their new album. They have admitted they're working very hard on it and are remaining tight-lipped on a release date.

"We can't tell you. There just isn't a release date yet," Lovett laughed. "We can't even say that any particular song is definitely on the record, because we just don't know. But we're being urgent with it, we're trying very hard."
