Television funny-man Ricky Gervais has revealed he is planning a new UK and European tour, which is to hit “as many big venues as possible in a short amount of time”.
Having just started pre-production on hit TV series 'An Idiot Abroad 3', Ricky revealed the tour news via his Blog www.rickygervais.com: “I'm planning a European arena tour. It will be quite intense playing as many big venues as possible in a short amount of time between filming various projects I have in the UK and America. But once the show (An Idiot Abroad 3) is nailed down I can always pop back and forth for the odd gig.”
'An Idiot Abroad 3' is still very much in the early stages, Ricky commented: “We've basically only sorted the budget and a rough route at the moment, but it feels great to actually be working on it, and it means that Karl is in too deep to pull out now. Ha ha.”
'An Idiot Abroad 2' was recently nominated for a Royal Television Society Award, which Ricky described as being “nice”. The comedian continued: “Doubt I'll be able to get Karl to put on his 2002 Bafta suit to actually go along in person, but still.”
In addition, Ricky's other TV series, 'Life's Too Short', has been nominated for Best Sitcom at The Rose D'Or Awards in Switzerland. “I'm very pleased with that to be honest. It will help with overseas sales for a start. (Always thinking, me) It's already coming to Paramount Comedy, Spain; TVNZ, New Zealand; ABC, Australia; DBS, Israel; TV Norge, Norway; SVT, Sweden; TV2, Denmark; HBO, Asia - and we are talking to another 20 or so countries around the world.”
