Olly Murs - Oh My Goodness (Single Review)

When thinking of Olly Murs, chances are one of the first things to pop into somebody’s head would be the phrase “cheeky chappy” and for all we know, we’re right. If we were to base our ideas on his latest single, ‘Oh My Goodness’, alone, it would probably still be one of the first things we’d think of.

The song is incredibly upbeat and is all about falling in love with someone and getting lost in the moment. More specifically, it’s about not really dwelling too much on whether the other person feels the same and just focusing on the importance of savouring the moment and taking the leap. There’s something mildly cocky about the whole concept, or maybe it’s brave; it’s hard to distinguish between the two sometimes. Either way, it’s a situation a lot of people will no doubt be able to relate to. Who knows, it might even inspire people to quit trying to stop themselves falling for someone. If so, Olly may well be responsible for some broken hearts in the future.

‘Oh My Goodness’ is Olly’s third release from his number 1 album, ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’. Not only was it number 1, it also went double platinum; something that is no doubt a sign of the success that Olly Murs will achieve for a long time yet. This song is incredible and will put a smile on even the grumpiest faces – even if it’s just because they’re smiling at the dancing of those around them because, let’s face it, this song does make you want to dance.

Even if you don’t like Olly Murs, the chances are this song will get stuck in your head – a trend that seems to be popular with previous X Factor contestants. Just look at Cher Lloyd and JLS for example; they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but secretly we could probably all sing along. What’s more, we probably enjoy it too… Maybe.

Along with Olly being associated with the phrase “cheeky chappy”, some might also think of trumpets when they think of him (or maybe it’s just me); either way, they feature a fair amount on this track and it certainly helps to spread summer joy. This song is inevitably going to be played loads as soon as the sunshine hits and that’s not a bad thing at all – it’s brilliant. It’s available from April 1st and definitely worth a purchase!
