The Meffs have announced their second album.
The follow-up to 2024's 'What a Life' is titled 'Business' and will arrive through FLG on September 11. Produced by Dan Weller, the album is described as the Essex-based punk duo's most politically-charged to date and sees them take aim at the challenges within today's music industry. They said:
"Business is everything. It's work, it's war, it's politics, it's our health. Business is angry and ugly, it's vulnerable and it speaks for all of us. I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish, and that's what Business does."
Alongside the announcement, The Meffs have shared the record's title track, a raw and unflnching look at the pressures of the modern music industry. The band explained:
"In life you're told to be your 'authentic self', but only if your 'authentic self' fits a mould, only if you 'authentic self' is on brand. We're not hard enough but we're not soft enough, we're not queer enough but we're too queer, etc. We're okay with that; we know who we are and we know what we stand for. 'Business' is a love song."
The Meffs are currently touring the UK as support for Stiff Little Fingers and play shows in Bristol, Birmingham and London later this week. They'll continue with live dates and several festival appearances across Europe and the UK through spring and summer and into early autumn, including an Edinburgh show supporting The Exploited in April and dates with Levellers in June, October and November. Tickets are on sale now.
