You Me At Six Release 'The Swarm' Video On YouTube After Twitter Fan Challenge

Pop-punk rockers You Me at Six have released ‘The Swarm’ on YouTube – the track they penned for Thorpe Park’s new rollercoaster of the same name – after fans quickly hit a target number of hash-tagged tweets set by the band on their official website.

The band set out a challenge to their fans, who are notoriously active on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter, to get a certain number of tweets with the hashtag #YMASTheSwarm. To no surprise, the challenge was completed and now the track is available on YouTube. You can check it out below.

Speaking of the track, guitarist Max Helyer told NME: “It's basically about the end of the world and the ride is full of near misses and loads of near hits. It's Europe's tallest winged rollercoaster in the world and Thorpe Park told us it was going to be very scary, so we decided we'd rock it up a little bit more, make it a bit more heavier and a bit hairier. It's a bit like 'Bite My Tongue', but without screaming. It's a massive epic rock song, it's definitely got aggression, and it's definitely got edge.”

And, in even more good news for fans, Helyer continued on to say that the band managed to work on some new material too.

“We ended up recording it with [Foo Fighters/Pixies producer] Gil Norton. We had a really good time writing it and although it's obviously done for the ride, it still feels like a You Me At Six song. We recorded it in Bath, we had a bit of time before we left for tour so we did it then. We just did the one track, but we jammed out a few potential new ideas for songs. We're not going to be writing for ages, but we thought we'd take the time to enjoy the benefits of working with Gil.”

You Me at Six are about to embark on a tour of the UK, which will kick off this Saturday in Leicester. If you’re a fan and need tickets, check the dates and details below the video.
