Rock’n’roll dreamers Two Wounded Birds are back! They are set to release their debut album, the self-titled ‘Two Wounded Birds’, on June 4th through Holiday Recording Friends (owned by Jacob Graham of The Drums).
To accompany the release they’ve lined up a number of shows, including a tour with Glasvegas starting tonight in London, plus festival shows and a Tracy Emin Exhibtion opening in their hometown of Margate, Kent.
After a clutch of critically acclaimed singles and EPs, winning fans the world over and playing shows with the likes of Grouplove, The Black Lips and indeed The Drums (who Two Wounded Birds front man Johnny Danger joined onstage for their recent Roundhouse headline show) they return with what their label owner Jacob Graham describes as “a palpable emotion proving that the rebel does have a heart after all and perhaps feels even more deeply than the rest of us.
“It's easy to see why these rising stars caught the ears of such legends as Brian Wilson and Debbie Harry.” Graham continues, “Their songs capture the American spirit with clear allegiances to the Beach Boys, the Ramones and Elvis—all while still acknowledging the band’s British roots. You won't hear any Elton John-style American accents here; instead, Johnny Danger’s sound recalls the velvety tones of Colin Blunstone in his Zombies heyday—a voice with true character.
“In an age in which the shroud of "pop" can describe any poorly constructed jingle that comes along, it's nice to see the dust settle and discover the genuine article…. Here you will find proof that sincere pop songs are truly timeless.”
Before brand new material from the record is unveiled, here are three previously released tracks to give you a taster of what to expect from this eponymous debut album:
Apr 3rd - London Garage (with Glasvegas)
Apr 4th - Liverpool Academy 2 (with Glasvegas)
Apr 5th - Glasgow Classic Grand (with Glasvegas)
May 5th - Live At Leeds
May 6th - Camden Crawl Last FM at Dingwalls.
May 26th - Margate The Turner Gallery, Tracey Emin Exhibition Opening
